The Lichtensteinklamm (Gorge) is a stunning roaring waterfall, boulders covered in dark green moss, a history shrouded in legend, rainbows wherever the sun touches the fine mist in the air… These are some of the things you will find in the Liechtensteinklamm gorge (or “Klamm”, for short), located near St. Johann in the heart of Salzburg. It is not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the deepest, longest gorges in the Alps. For thousands of years the roaring falls and raging river have been cutting their path through the rock. In some parts the sheer walls of the gorge are so tall and so close together that the sky appears as nothing more than a narrow strip of blue high above the visitor. As early as 1875, people were so taken by this natural wonder that bridges and catwalks were built with money donated by Prince Liechtenstein II to make the Klamm accessible to the public.
The Lamprechtshöhle (Cave) is one of Europe’s most extensive cave systems and the deepest walkable cave in the entire world. Those areas which are open to the public can be reached by boardwalks that are easy to navigate.
